HOT TUB SAFETY GUIDELINES

  • Shower with soap and water before and after using the hot tub. Showering before use washes away many of the common skin bacteria and removes lotions, deodorants, creams etc. which reduce the effectiveness of the spa sanitizer which disinfects the water.

  • Parents are advised that the hot tub is not suitable for children under the age of four.

  • Never allow children to use the spa unsupervised and when not in use make sure the cover is on and secured.

  • Parents are to warn children not to allow water in their mouths as this can cause infection and illness.

  • Persons with heart disease, diabetes, low or high blood pressure, or any serious illness should not enter the hot tub without prior consultation with their doctor.

  • During pregnancy soaking in the hot tub may cause damage to the foetus so contact your doctor for advice before entering the water.

  • Never use the hot tub while using or after using narcotics, any other drugs and excessive alcohol.

  • At 39-40°C, limit your timed in the hot tub to a maximum of 15 mins. At 36-37°C this time can be extended up to 1 hour.

  • Do not immerse your head in the hot tub water. This increases the risk of infection and a drowning risk can occur when a bathers hair becomes entangles in a drain cover. Never allow children (or anyone) to play with heads underwater in a hot tub.

  • Long hair to be tied up or a swimming cap used

  • People with skin, ear, genital or other body infections, open sores or wounds should not use the hot tub.

  • Do not use the hot tub after a spray tan as this is guaranteed to block the filter and land you with a cleaning charge of £50.00

  • We/I have read this safety booklet. We/I understand what is says and we agree to follow the rules, use common sense and to pass on this information to other members in my party. I agree that if the hot tub needs to be shut down due to misuse, a £100 re-fill charge will be added to my bill.

  • Stay out of the hot tub during rainstorms and lightening due to the chance of electrocution.

  • Use of the hot tub is entirely at your own risk. Thorpe Thewles Lodge and its management are not responsible for your safety whilst using the hot tub.
